IMPACT is born, an innovative model of start-ups accelerator: €6.4M for 64 start-ups

Milan, 23 July 2014 - A new startups accelerator is born. The European Consortium made up by ISDIb-ventures, the startup accelerator of Buongiorno, Seaya Ventures, Teknologiudviking ApS, and a network of entrepreneurs and well-know professionals of the digital European ecosystem is launching IMPACT which, as of today, is starting (Mobile Internet, Projects Accelerator), its activity as mobile Internet project accelerator with the ambitous aim to finance and accelerate 64 European startups in the coming two years. IMPACT is endowed with €6.4M to invest in start-ups wherein these funds, which amount to an average of €100k per project, will be non-recoverable without equity consideration.

IMPACT is one of the 16 consortiums chosen by the European Commission within the framework of Seventh Program Framework. IMPACT top scored among the 92 projects submitted, of which only 16 accelerators were chosen for the implementation of the FI-PPP initiative (Future Internet Public-Private-Parttnerhip). FI-PPP will provide the selected start-ups with the base technology with the purpose of creating an open environment wherein EU SMEs can take advantage of. The aim of IMPACT is to select and accelerate start-ups associated with mobile Internet which can adopt these European digital technologies (FI-Ware and FI-Content). The accelerator looks for entrepreneurs or start-ups projects that develop mobile apps or business models based on mobility in the communications areas, social, video, media & advertising; design, education, entertainment, e-commerce, peripheral devices, content, connected TV, infrastructure, security, productivity, finance, smart cities and social networks, among others.

Borealis Tech Ventures: a new Venture Capital Fund for Italian Startups


Italian would-be entrepreneur are pleased to welcome Borealis Tech Ventures the new financial vehicle launched by Vittorio Bertazzoni (Smeg)Giampaolo Cagnin (Campus)Alessandro ChiesiFrancesco MuttiPietro Negra (Pinko) and Andrea Casalini, CEO of Buongiorno, formed along with the firm Studio AGFM Commercialisti Associati, to invest in start-ups and innovative companies together with the accelerator b-ventures of Buongiorno which wants to close a specific loop, as was able to explain the sole director Paolo Alinovi:"Borealis shareholders have decided to invest in startups chosen by the business accelerator Buongiorno and the presence of managers from different industries will allow to evaluate also proposals on which b-ventures it focuses, even outside the hi-tech sector. "

The first investment of the newborn Borealis Tech Ventures has been made among one of the five startups incubated by b-ventures, the project AeroDron, specializing in photographic surveys with the help of drones, injecting capital of €290,000 in collaboration with some angel including Emilio Attolini di Medel group and the co-founder of Buongiorno, Pietro De Nardis. The first part of the investment round in favor of AeroDron of €110,000, was supported by Capital B! controlled by Mauro Del Rio (president and founder of Buongiorno SpA). With the completion of the second tranche of the investment round, the overall investment amounts to €400,000.

AeroDron receives €400k in seed funding

Just 5 months after joining the B-ventures startups accelerator launched by Buongiorno S.p.A., AeroDron, a Parma-based (Emilia-Romagna) startup operating in the remote sensing space, has closed a seed round of €400k which will bring to the subscription of a capital increase.

The seed funding is foreseen in two tranches:
  • the first tranche of €110k has been concluded on 27th November and has been subscribed by Blom CGR (the general company for air video shots), a leading company in the sector of photogrammetry and remote sensing, and by Capital B! a the financial vehicle controlled by Mauro Del Rio (President and Founder of Buongiorno S.p.A.).
  • the second tranche, of the value of €290k, will be subscribed in January 2014 and will see the entrance of important investors and entrepreneurs among its shareholders.

With this transaction AeroDron obtains a further push to its growth thanks to the financial resources and technological competencies brought in by Blom CGR, which enters in the company shareholding as an industrial partner.

Born in Parma in 2012, AeroDron is actually incubated within B-ventures accelerator program launched by Buongiorno S.p.A., uses civil drones to offer professional services of low-flying and high precision air video shots to sustain the activity of analysis, protection, prevention and safeguarding of the territory and environment. It is the only italian realty addressing the public administration and which operates in the field of environmental services with the objective of insert the use of drones in the technology already in use, by substituting traditional aircraft services.
